How was your week? Mine was buuuuusssssy. I spent my days in business meetings, teaching yoga classes, fending off a head cold, and preparing for—then traveling to—a four-day hockey tournament.
Thankfully, I had plenty of time for yoga because I’ve spent years cultivating a home practice that fits seamlessly into the rhythms of my life. I roll out my mat as soon as I get out of bed, and I have all my tried-and-true classes organized in YouTube playlists.
No matter what, I can quickly put together a morning practice that aligns with my day. Woke up late and need to be out the door in an hour? No problem! I pick a movement class from my Super Short Yoga playlist and a Nidra from my 10–20 Minute Nidras playlist, and I’m good to go.
I have playlists for every kind of morning. My Long Nidras, Favorite Nidras, and Gentle Yoga playlists are perfect for long, lazy Sundays with nowhere to be and hours at my disposal. Chakra Yoga is my go to when I want to explore a specific theme. Favorite Nidras is for mornings when I want something reliable and familiar.
I made an Instagram reel all about the power of YouTube playlists to infuse structure, consistency and ease into your home practice. Take a behind the scenes look at my personal playlists and how I build them here: The Power of Instagram Reels.
I also wrote an entire issue about this topic back in October of 2023! You can find that here: Playlists & Props
During some of my downtime at the hotel, I sifted through my Yoga to Try playlist and picked out some exciting new classes for you. I’m really happy with the variety and quality of everything I’ve gathered—so let’s get right to it!
15 Min Yoga For Your Period | Gentle Yoga Flow For Menstruation | Yoga With Olive
17 Minutes | All Levels | Beginner Friendly
As if I didn’t have enough going on this week, my moon cycle decided to make an appearance—on the day of the full moon. It was a little intense. IYKYK.
In the midst of everything, I was delighted to rediscover this practice. I was grateful for the opportunity to give my body a little extra support and movement with this super yummy, gentle sequence. Maybe this is a start of a brand new playlist: Yoga & Nidras for Menstruation. Stay tuned for that!
Guided Meditation For Reprogramming Your Mind | SHOW NEMOTO
13 Minutes | All Levels | Beginner Friendly
I practiced this meditation in the evening after an extremely draining day. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the title, but wow—this was a breath of fresh air! It was so uplifting, exactly what I needed. I absolutely loved it.
This was my first experience with SHOW NEMOTO—he capitalizes it, I figured I would too. I don’t know much about him yet, but i’m excited to explore more of his content. His delivery is incredibly soothing, and the meditation itself is both well-guided and unique. As soon as I finished, I knew I had to share it with all of you.
Learning to Look for Joy | Gratitude Journal Newsletter
All Levels | Beginner Friendly
Last Sunday morning, I sipped coffee and caught up on Substack newsletters—a rare and glorious treat. I subscribe to many but don’t read them as often as I’d like.
As I was exploring, I discovered this sweet installment of The Gratitude Journal by Alex Elle and fell in love with the concept behind it. Basically, Alex encourages us to train our minds to look for joy in simple, everyday moments. I won’t say more, because I really want you to actually read the newsletter, but her method for integrating this is genius. I will be implementing it in my own life.
While exploring, I came across a sweet installment of The Gratitude Journal and immediately fell in love with the concept behind it: training our minds to notice joy in simple, everyday moments. I won’t give too much away because I truly want you to read it, but Alex’s method for integrating this idea is genuis. I’ll definitely be incorporating it into my own life.
Curious, I revisited the About Page and as soon as I read the first paragraph, I knew I’d be returning often. Alex shares that her life changed when she “started practicing grateful living in the thick of grief.” That feels like exactly what I need right now.
Yoga for Forgiveness | Black Yogi Nico Marie
10 Minutes | All Levels | Beginner Friendly
I’ve had this fulfilling class on repeat. The sequence is short, but I leave with my cup full…every single time. Nico really has a knack for infusing depth into her yoga classes, whether they are ten minutes or an hour long. It’s impressive and I love knowing I can look to her when I need something soulful without a lot of time to spare.
I’m putting the finishing touches on this issue in my hotel room, squeezing in edits between hockey games. I have plenty of final thoughts I’d love to share, but not nearly enough time to flesh them out.
So, I’ll leave you with this: I hope I’ve inspired you to create your own YouTube playlists. Organizing the classes I’ve collected over the years completely transformed my practice. I used to waste so much time searching for the perfect class—so much that it often cut into the time I had to actually practice. It’s been a long time since I’ve had that problem, and I want that same ease for you and your home practice.
That’s all for now—happy practicing!
See you next Sunday.
