“Gratitude turns what little you have into abundance
Gratitude is so much more than saying thank you
Gratitude changes your perspective of your world”
Tiffany Sauber Millacci, Ph.D.
November has arrived, ushering in the annual onslaught of gratitude themed content. Social media feeds, inboxes and Substack feeds will be overflowing with lists of everything everyone is grateful for.
While gratitude is something you can never have too much of, sometimes the practice starts to feel a little shallow or performative. So, this year, I'm approaching my gratitude lists differently. I’m still making them—they’ll just look a bit different.
Instead of sitting down every day and writing out a numbered list of all the things I’m grateful for, I’m choosing one thing. Not five or ten things, just one…and I’m encouraging you to do the same.
This isn’t about simplifying or cutting corners. I’m not going to write “I’m grateful for my house” and call it a day. I’m going to write “I’m grateful for my house” and then list out all the reasons why.
It will look something like this:
I am grateful for my house because:
My mother- and father-in-law built it with their own hands. They cleared the land, stained the wood, and filled it with love. My mother-in-law planted rhubarb, raspberry bushes, plants, and flowers. My sister-in-law painted a cheerful sun on the outhouse, which now sits at the back of our property. Every inch of this place is marked by our family’s hard work, love, and dedication.
I raised my son in this house, filling it with a lifetime of memories. It’s the only home he’s ever known. Every “first” has been celebrated here. Every Christmas, birthday, Halloween, and holiday began and ended within these walls. He’s left his mark on this house, and I see him everywhere I look.
This little house is warm and cozy, full of character. I know all the little quirks that hold it together. It’s my marital home, a place where I feel safe. It’s my sanctuary- an oasis of comfort that never fails me
This little cabin has sheltered my sweet family through every storm and held us together through every season. No matter what happens or where we go, we always come back here, to our home.
Isn’t that so much richer and more expansive than simply, “I’m thankful for my mom, my job, my car…”?
This November, I’m committing to this deeper approach as an homage—and a refreshing twist—on traditional gratitude challenges.

This is a lovely yoga break— short, gentle, and perfect for any time of day. Kalyn guides us gently into a state of gratitude. I felt deeply connected to the blessings in my life throughout the class. I see a lot of potential for using this practice throughout the month of November.

15 Minute Morning Yoga - Gratitude Flow | David O Yoga
19 Minutes | All Levels
Gratitude and joy go hand in hand, and the joy radiating from David is wonderfully contagious! I'll admit, I had my doubts at first, but they quickly faded after experiencing this fun, unique class.
The sequence includes a few challenging spots, offering you two choices: a) take ownership of your practice by choosing to rest, or b) bring a sense of play into the flow! David’s lighthearted approach keeps the practice refreshingly lighthearted, making it feel less serious and more enjoyable
I encourage you to give it a try! I’m excited to revisit the sequence and see how it feels as I settle into it. It's always refreshing to find a teacher with a unique approach to asana, and David brings exactly that.
I hope all of you find so much to be grateful for this week.
I’ll see you next Sunday.
This is great! Thank you.
I love this Jenny, and I will join you in this
