Happy October!
Get excited, because today, we usher in a new theme: Your Yoga Toolbox
Last month we focused on welcoming yoga into your life, getting comfortable on your mat and practicing at home. This month, we’re taking your confidence to the next level with tools to help you enrich your practice.
If you haven’t taken the time to subscribe, please take a moment to do so now. There’s lots of essential home yoga tools coming your way this month
Alright, let’s get started!
Getting Organized
Now that you’ve laid the foundation for your home yoga practice, it’s time to start building on it and you can’t do that without the proper tools.
Before compiling tools, you’ll need a place to store them. Have you ever gone looking for a screwdriver or a measuring tape, only to realize that you don’t know where they are?
Your yoga tools are just like your hammers and nails, they need a home.
Put it into Practice
Today, we have a unique exercise to help you visualize your yoga toolbox.
This isn’t mere daydreaming, it’s about creating a connection.
Picture your personal toolbox - it can be any size, shape or color. It’s your companion on your yoga journey, so imagine the perfect container that resonates with you. No rules apply; let your creativity flow.
Ready? Set a timer for one minute, close your eyes and visualize your toolbox.
Share your experience in the comments; i’ll do the same!
Filling Your Toolbox
Now that you’ve established a safe place for your tools, let’s start collecting them!
Remember the foundation we built last week? Go ahead and put that as your first addition to your toolbox.
You’ve also got the classes i’ve shared. Are there any that you especially enjoyed? Plunk those in your toolbox too!
See how this works? As you read Root&Rise and practice yoga, you encounter resources that feel helpful and aligned. Those you are your tools.
Here’s a personal example: I often find my mind wandering during practice. It’s frustrating and i’ve tried various solutions. However, the most effective one comes from my toolbox - breath. It’s a simple but powerful tool that brings me back to the present moment.
Spoiler Alert - We dive deeper into breath in an upcoming issue!
Creating that mental picture of my toolbox was a game-changer. It serves as a reference point when I feel lost, and there’s usually something inside that helps.
Sometimes a new challenge arises without a ready tool. In those moments, I look for advice, whether through Google, podcasts or books to find the perfect solution. When I discover it, it goes straight into my toolbox.

I'll get the ball rolling on the toolbox sharing.....I did this exercise when I was writing the article and, as soon as I closed my eyes, a blue bicycle with a big, white basket popped into my mind. It gave me a good chuckle. I guess my toolbox is portable!
