When you don’t know what to do…it’s okay to do nothing.
-Me
Greetings from the depths of this never-ending winter. From the land of overwhelming uncertainty, an ocean of cleansing tears, and, well, my couch—where I’ve been spending a lot of my time.
The muse was conspicuously absent this week. I’m going to assume she’s giving me space to pull myself together after an especially taxing week—physically, mentally, emotionally and energetically.
I’m making peace with being imperfect and messy for the time being. I didn’t manage to write anything profound this week, but I did gather a collection of precious (to me) offerings for you. These resources have brought me comfort, inspiration, motivation, and even a little joy in this difficult season of life. I hope you find something in them to lift your spirits too.
I took my trauma on vacation | Diary of a Recovering Nobody
Newsletter Issue \ Mid Length Essay
This comforting piece landed squarely in the center of my slowly healing heart, reminding me of the value of vulnerability, courage, and authenticity. Sharing ourselves with the world not only lightens the weight of our own suffering but also helps others heal.
When we allow ourselves to be seen in our rawest states, we open the door for those who are lost, broken, or hurting to find their way to us. Through that connection, we offer hope. Sometimes, all we need is the reassurance that we are not alone. By letting each other in, we create a sacred space to love one another—until we can learn to love ourselves again
I’d like to quote at least ten different passages from this beautiful essay, but I’ll leave you with one…
“It’s been like I’ve been traveling down a road where that’s been the narrative and now I’m coming to a crossroads where there’s a new road I’m meant to travel on for this season of my life with a new narrative that’s unfamiliar, but necessary. Which is a hard adjustment” -Gabrielle Westbrook
Yoga Nidra for the 3rd Chakra | Ally Boothroyd
35 Minutes | All Levels | Beginner Friendly
I practice Yoga Nidra every day, exploring different styles and teachers. Some practices are deep and intricate, while others shine in their simplicity. This class belongs to the latter category.
After experiencing a wide variety of approaches, I’ve come to appreciate the beauty of a simple, straightforward Nidra. Don’t get me wrong—I love the deeply layered ones too. But there’s something special about the quiet space to simply be with myself.
The Untethered Soul | Michael Singer
Youtube Summary 6Min \ Audiobook 6hrs \ Book 181 pages
I’ve been revisiting the audiobook version of The Untethered Soul, and it’s even more insightful than I remembered. If you look this book up, you’ll find countless accolades from people calling it “life-changing.” I’m adding my voice to the mix: if you approach it with an open heart and a willingness to receive, reading this book will be a transformative experience.
Packed with 181 pages of timeless wisdom, The Untethered Soul is a gem. While I own the paperback, I prefer the audiobook. Peter Berkrot’s narration brings the message to life with a masterful delivery—it might just be my favorite audiobook performance ever. I highly recommend giving it a listen.
No matter how you choose to engage with this powerful work, you’re in for a treat. Michael Singer has crafted a treasure map to guide us toward the calm minds and peaceful hearts we all desire—and deserve.
10 Minute Morning Yoga Stretch | Yoga With Bird
12 minutes | All Levels | Beginner Friendly
Bird has become my go-to teacher for simple, morning sequences. They are always so satisfying, even when they’re only ten minutes long! She just has a knack for short&sweet classes.
If you’re looking for something gentle and quick to move your body anytime of day, this is a great option!
The banners for this week’s newsletter come courtesy of a Christmas gift from someone who knows me well. You guys don’t often see the side of me that this calendar speaks to, but let’s just say she has a dark sense of humor and a potty mouth
The final banner is a nod to a conversation I had earlier this week with my beloved mentor and friend, Erica Jago. If you don’t already know who she is, I suggest looking her up ASAP! She has an incredible array of offerings that resonate with a wide variety of people—and if you enjoy this newsletter, you’re going to love her work
The conversation with Erica got me thinking about the intense urge I’ve been feeling lately to withdraw from the world. Everything I’ve been navigating has left me feeling a bit fragile—vulnerable in a way that makes it scary to put myself out there. But at the end of the day, I keep coming back to one question: am I going to let the actions of others prevent me from showing up and shining my light?
The answer is a resounding no. Oh….excuse me. What I meant was, HELL NO.
So I’ll see you all right back here, next Sunday. And every Sunday after that. Have a rebellious, resilient week friends.
Lately I love yoga Nidra. I’m going to check out Yoga with Bird, sounds nice.
