It is an ancient agricultural Israelite holiday celebrating the harvest season and has roots in the Cannantite traditions and possibly Greek as well. We build outdoor structures with very specific instructions (like room for a goat to pass underneath the bottom:) and are commanded to sleep and eat in them to celebrate the harvest. Cool, huh?
